Full description
Who this is for: Herb Ripper XL owners who want a coarser grind for a vaporiser, and who grind enough at a time to want it done in one pass.
The screen plate is the perforated disc inside the grinder. Material passes through its holes, so the hole size decides how fine the result is.
A vaporiser pulls hot air through the load. Finely ground material packs down, the air finds a channel round the side, and the middle of the chamber never gets hot. A coarser grind keeps the load open so the air passes through it evenly.
Our supplier says the XL handles “larger quantities per pass”. Swapping the plate is reversible, and our supplier says it installs “in seconds, no tools or modifications needed”.
On the material: our supplier specifies 316L stainless steel, which is more specific than the usual “medical grade”. The “L” is the low-carbon version, and the 316 family contains molybdenum — both are there to resist corrosion, so it resists pitting where it is repeatedly wetted and cleaned.
⚠️ This is the XL plate — Herb Ripper give it as 2.5″ across, against 2″ for the Classic plate. Their note for it reads: “This plate is only compatible with the new SS Herb Ripper grinder that has the HR logo on the top.” Check which grinder you have before ordering.
