Four parts is lid, teeth, screen and chamber. The fine powder that comes off during grinding falls through the mesh and collects underneath rather than staying mixed in. Whether you want that is a matter of preference: it separates the material but it also means another chamber to empty and clean.
The screen lifts out — Herb Ripper describe it as removable “for cleaning or replacing”. The loose steel ball rolls on top of it and keeps it from blocking.
2.5 inches is the larger body, so a single grind holds more.
