Two parts means lid and teeth. You grind and you tip it out. There is nothing underneath to catch the fine powder, so nothing is separated and nothing is forgotten in a compartment.
Our supplier says the bottom is “designed for finger scooping”.
The magnet holds the halves together while you turn them, so they do not drift apart mid-grind and spill.
Santa Cruz say they use neodymium “rare earth” magnets. On the material: Santa Cruz Shredder's own wording is “Made from medical-grade anodized aluminum”. They name no standard or alloy grade. The phrase describes the material; it does not make the grinder a medical device.
Anodising is an electrical treatment that grows a hard oxide layer on the surface of the aluminium.
