Who this is for: someone who wants to set the voltage exactly — to a pharmacy's limit, say — and who likes a device that does not look like a vape.
A 510 battery is the power source. Your cartridge comes from the pharmacy with the medicine and the heating element already inside it — it has no power of its own. The cartridge screws into the bowl, and the pipe's stem slides over it as the mouthpiece. "510" is just the size of the screw thread, and nearly every cartridge uses it.
Setting the voltage. Cartisan's spec sheet gives the range as 1.8V to 4.2V: each press of the button adds 0.1V, and holding it climbs continuously. Most batteries offer three fixed settings; this lets you stop at exactly the figure you want. Your dispensing pharmacy can tell you the highest your cartridge should run at.
Using it. Five presses of the button within 1.5 seconds switch it on. It fires when you draw on it, or you can press the button instead: Cartisan’s own sheet says the light flashes “while smoking or puffing”, and retailers describe auto-draw and button firing. A short press wakes a small screen showing the battery level, and it counts your puffs. Press the button twice within 1.5 seconds and it warms the cartridge at 1.8V for 8 seconds — useful for thick oil.
Size and fit. Cartisan give the largest cartridge as 14mm across and 62mm long. The device itself is 135mm long — a hand-held pipe, not a pocket pen.
A note on Retail North's listing. Our supplier's page describes three settings (low, medium and high). Cartisan's own spec sheet describes the 0.1V steps above, and that is what we have written here.
