Who this is for: someone who wants a slim pen with a choice of settings, and a lock so it cannot go off in a bag — or in a child's hands.
Three settings, and why they matter. The setting decides how hard the battery drives the heating element inside your cartridge, and so how hot the oil gets. 2.8V is the gentlest, 3.6V the strongest. Too low and very little happens; too high and the oil can taste burnt. Starting low and working up is the sensible order — and your pharmacy can tell you the highest your cartridge should run at. A few quick clicks of the button move between the settings.
The lock. Five quick clicks turn it off completely, and five more turn it back on, so it cannot fire by accident in a pocket or bag. If there are children in the house, that is the reason to choose this over the button-free M3.
Compared with our M4B Pro. The M4B Pro has the same three settings and a lock, plus a 10-second preheat for thick oil and USB-C charging. The M3B holds a little more charge (350mAh against 290mAh), but it has no preheat that we have found, and it charges through its thread instead.
How it charges. It has no charging socket. Unscrew the cartridge, screw the small USB charger from the box into the same thread, and plug it into a USB port. Keep the charger safe — without it, the battery cannot be charged.
