Aluminium grinders are lighter and cheaper and most people are perfectly happy with one. Steel does not soften, does not gall where the threads meet, and does not wear its teeth round over years of use. Herb Ripper say the material is medical grade stainless steel.
The redesigned tooth layout gives a fine to medium hybrid grind and is intended to resist jamming, which is the usual complaint about steel grinders.
The weight cuts both ways. 440g does the work for you and stays put on a surface; it is also noticeably heavy in a pocket. If you want something to carry, this is not it.
