Key facts

Adjustable airflow · colour OLED display
Can't be used while charging
Full description
Who this is for: someone who wants one device to do both jobs — a single draw when they need it, a longer session when they have time — and who would rather look after a device than replace it.
Session mode runs 40–220°C and keeps the heater on for the session time you set, from 100 to 500 seconds. Demand mode runs 40–240°C and heats only while the button is held. Limelight's manual gives about 5 seconds for the first heat-up and under 2 seconds for each one after. You set the temperature by the degree with the up and down buttons. An LED glows orange while heating and turns green when it is ready. Settings show on a 0.96 inch colour OLED display, and airflow is adjustable.
Limelight describe the air path two ways. Their Frolic page says it is “made entirely from CNC machined PEEK”; their FAQ lists PEEK, stainless steel, hard-anodised aluminium and Ultem, “100% hermetically sealed from other components”. The battery is a removable 21700 — when it eventually stops holding charge you replace a cell, not the whole device. It charges by USB-C or in an external charger. Limelight's manual says that for safety it switches off when a USB-C cable is attached, so it can't be used while charging.
Built to be looked after. Limelight say every component and joint is "engineered with durability and repairability in mind". The cooling unit, mouthpieces, seals, screens and water pipe adapters are all sold separately, so a worn part is a part, not a write-off. The warranty is two years and, in Limelight's words, “includes spare parts support, service and online technical support”. Limelight's warranty page also says not to attempt self-repair, and that removing the screw-plug seals voids the warranty.
On the name. Limelight call it a thermal extractor rather than a vaporiser, and you will see it sold as the "Frolic Thermal Extractor" elsewhere. It is the same product. Their own definition: "A thermal extractor is a device that uses heat to extract elements of the plant material." We call it a vaporiser on this site because that is the word most people are looking for.
Limelight are a Serbian company; their About page dates them to 2013.
