Who this is for: PAX 4 owners who find the flat mouthpiece a tight draw, and anyone replacing a worn one.
The raised mouthpiece stands a little above the top of the device rather than sitting flush. That gives a wider opening and a looser draw, so you do not have to pull as hard. If a tight draw is hard work, this is the shape to try.
It also puts a few more millimetres between your lips and the body of the device, which some people find more comfortable on a longer session.
PAX supply both shapes with the device. Neither is better; they simply suit different people, and both are worth having so you can swap when one is soaking.
Worth knowing: PAX's own spec sheet lists the PAX 4 as having no adjustable airflow. So the mouthpiece is the only thing on the device that changes how hard you have to draw. That makes the choice between these two shapes more consequential than it looks.
