The mouthpiece collects more residue than any other part of the device, because everything that comes off the material passes through it and cools there. It is the first thing to check when a draw feels wrong, and the easiest part to lose — it is small, dark and it lifts out.
The flat shape sits level with the top of the device, which gives a more direct draw and makes it flatter in a pocket.
They come as a pair, so replacing one still leaves you a spare.
