The cooling unit is the part between the chamber and your mouth. It takes the heat out of the vapour, and in doing so it collects the resin that would otherwise reach you. That is its job, and it is why it needs cleaning rather than why it has failed.
The Venty cooling unit comes apart into several pieces for cleaning, and isopropyl needs time to work and longer to dry off. With one unit that means the device is out of use while you wait. With three it never is.
